Our presence at the ACM Multimedia Conference 2025

The ACM Multimedia Conference (ACM MM 2025), the world’s premier event for scientific achievements in the multimedia field, took place from October 27 to 31 in Dublin, Ireland. This year’s gathering served as a significant stage for both the TRANSMIXR project and for the Distributed and Interactive Systems (DIS) group from our partner CWI, showcasing a deep commitment to the future of immersive technology.

The presence of the TRANSMIXR team extended well beyond traditional paper presentations as the group took on leadership roles to drive the conversation on the next generation of digital interaction. A key highlight was the Workshop on Interactive Extended Reality (IXR’25), co-organized by Silvia Rossi and Irene Viola, which explored the boundaries of XR environments. The session featured a keynote address from Niall Murray, coordinator of the TRANSMIXR project, who provided expert insights into the evolving landscape of interactive media.

Further representing the group and the TRANSMIXR project, a keynote talk was delivered at the SIGMM EU Chapter Symposium, an event co-organized by Pablo Cesar. The presentation, titled ‘From Individual Immersion to Shared Experiences in Social XR,’ explored the critical transition from isolated virtual reality experiences toward collaborative, social environments.

The conference concluded with an impressive track record of contributions that demonstrated the breadth and depth of the DIS and Transmixr research. Their collective efforts resulted in the publication of two dataset papers and two workshop papers, alongside the successful execution of two co-organized workshops and a featured keynote address. By combining technical rigor with organizational leadership, the teams have reaffirmed their positions at the forefront of the international multimedia research community.
