From 8 to 10 December 2025, the TRANSMIXR team participated in UnitedXR Europe in Brussels, a premier event for XR professionals and innovators to explore the latest advancements in AR, VR, and MR technologies. With over 120 exhibitors, 125+ industry leaders, and 2,000 XR professionals, the event offered an ideal platform to showcase XR projects, exchange ideas, and experience cutting-edge immersive technologies.
For TRANSMIXR, UnitedXR Europe was a significant moment in the project’s final year, providing the opportunity to present our work, share knowledge, and connect with the European XR community.
Live Demos and Immersive Experiences
Attendees had the chance to experience TRANSMIXR’s use-case pilots through hands-on demonstrations:
- Space Archivists game – exploring new approaches to storytelling and cultural engagement
- Newsroom Toolbox and Newsroom Broadcast – showcasing XR-enabled media workflows
- Planica VR – bringing immersive sports content to life
- Cadence of Altered Illusions (CAI) – a mixed-reality experience portraying the emotional life journey of Christian Aiken Isaac, using VR, sound, lighting, and sensory cues
The demos attracted a lot of attention, with participants engaging directly with TRANSMIXR technologies, exploring new workflows, and gaining insight into the project’s practical and creative applications. The interactive experiences created a lively and engaging environment throughout the event.
During the event, TRANSMIXR also celebrated notable achievements: CAI was nominated for the XR Awards Gala 2025, and a scientific paper was accepted for the Scientific Track Competition.
Contributing to European XR Dialogue
TRANSMIXR took part in sessions aimed at knowledge sharing and project visibility.
On day one, project coordinator Niall Murray (Technological University of the Shannon) presented the project during the “Meet the EU-Funded Projects” session, alongside AMPLIFY, INDUX-R, THEIA-XR, and XR2Industry, highlighting how these initiatives contribute to the development of human-centric and inclusive XR and AI technologies across sectors.
Day two featured TRANSMIXR in the Scientific Track with the panel “TRANSMIXR – new workflows based on AI and Social XR to support Europe’s cultural and creative sector” led by project coordinator Niall Murray and scientific coordinator Pablo César. The session explored emerging workflows and approaches enabled by AI and Social XR within creative and cultural contexts.
A key moment of TRANSMIXR’s presence was the panel discussion “Reimagining workflows to create XR experiences in the creative and cultural sector.”
The panel included experts from journalism, archives, research, broadcasting, and artistic practice. A big round of applause to our amazing speakers: Marie Hospital (AFP), Niall Murray (Technological University of the Shannon), Philine Kreuzer (Nederlands Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid), Tupac Martir (SATORE STUDIO), Pablo César (Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica), Trevor Ó Clochartaigh (TG4).
The discussion focused on practical experiences, challenges, and approaches to XR production workflows, aligned with the project’s four central use cases.
UnitedXR Europe was the perfect opportunity for TRANSMIXR to showcase the project’s work in its final year, from immersive demos to knowledge-sharing panels. The event highlighted the creativity, innovation, and collaboration that defined the project, and it allowed the team to connect with the broader European XR community.
TRANSMIXR aims to leave a legacy of practical and research insights, innovative XR workflows, inspiring experiences, and new media tools, all contributing to ongoing discussions about the future of XR in the sector.
