TRANSMIXR partners publish new scientific papers presented at HCII 2023

TRANSMIXR presented two new scientific publications on the work being carried out in the project at the recent International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction (HCII 2023): Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality, held in Copenhagen 23-28 July 2023.

The first paper, “Multimodality: Exploring Sensibility and Sense-Making Beyond the Metaverse” explores advancements in multimodality to further experiments with human sensory modalities. To this end, we discuss recent aesthetic theory oriented to attune the senses to promote our capacities for sensing and sense-making.

The second publication, “Realtime-3D Interactive Content Creation for Multi-platform Distribution: A 3D Interactive Content Creation User Study” includes opinions of expert and novice users towards using XR technology, recording their previous experiences and knowledge of 3D technology, gathering information about their current needs and requirements, and reporting on the potential future of XR. Furthermore, we provide further details on the current conditions and provisions of contemporary 3D visual artists and the perceived possible future of 3D content creation from the creative media industry and educational perspective.

An additional publication, “Feel the Music!—Audience Experiences of Audio–Tactile Feedback in a Novel Virtual Reality Volumetric Music Video” is a contribution to the Special Issue Feeling the Future—Haptic Audio explores the potential of novel multimodal technology to communicate artistic expression via an immersive virtual reality (VR) volumetric music video. This research paper inspects audio–tactile interactions in the auditory experience of immersive music videos, where both auditory and haptic channels receive vibrations during the imaginative virtual performance.
