During the 1st International Workshop on Video for Immersive Experiences at the ACM Interactive Media Experiences Conference (IMX 2024), 12-14 June 2024, TRANSMIXR coordinator Dr. Niall Murray gave a keynote talk.
The talk had 2 separate but related focuses. Firstly it provided an overview of the Horizon Europe TRANSMIXR project. The talk highlighted how Social Extended Reality (XR) and Artificial Technologies (AI) technologies can be developed to solve problems for Europe’s creative and cultural sectors in terms of sourcing and understanding content, developing tools for content creation and supporting novel for XR experiences.
Following the overview of TRANSMIXR, a technical talk entitled “Towards privacy aware Quality of Experience evaluations of Immersive Multisensory Experiences” provided a history on the evolution of the field of quality of user experience (QoE) research and highlighted and placed in context the need for developing privacy aware QoE of immersive and multisensory multimedia experiences. Within the context of the TRANSMXIR project, it provided some initial insights into the results from practical case studies in terms of experimental evaluations of volumetric videos, highly-realistic digital humans and new methods in terms of protocols for quantifying the QoE.
There were many questions from the audience on this interesting topic and we would like to the thank the organisers Lyndon Nixon, MODUL Technology GmbH, Austria and Vasileios Mezaris and Stefanos Vrochidis of CERTH-ITI, Greece for organising such a well-run event.
