TRANSMIXR co-organises Video4IMX & ISIM workshops with partner EU projects at ACM IMX 2024 conference

Researchers from the TRANSMIXR project were involved in 2 workshops co-located at the ACM IMX 2024 conference.

The first workshop, Video 4 Immersive Experiences was co-organised by Lyndon Nixon (MODUL Technology GmbH) and Vasileios Mezaris (CERTH-ITI), both investigators in TRANSMIXR along with Stefanos Vrochidis, CERTH-ITI, from the XRECO project. The workshop had 6 paper presentations and 2 keynote talks on the latest research in areas related to the creation and management of descriptive metadata for video (particularly as used for integration into immersive experiences) as well as approaches to adapt or convert video according to its purpose and use in such immersive experiences.

The Interaction and Storytelling with(in) Immersive Media Workshop was organised by Niall Murray, Conor Keighrey (Technological University of the Shannon) and Pablo Cesar (CWI, TU Delft) of TRANSMIXR along with Yu Xiao (Aalto University & EMIL), Fiona Rivera (BBC & MAX-R), Mario Montagud (University of Valencia, i2CAT Foundation,  6G-XR, EVOLVE and HEAT), Sergi Fernández (i2CAT Foundation, XRECO, PRESENCE) and Francisco Ibánez (Brainstorm, 6G-BRICKS, MAX-R). In addition to 7 paper presentations, this workshop had a unique “EU Projects” session.

All the sessions including the project sessions were highly interactive with more than 30 participants at each workshop. In particular, the EU projects session, chaired by Mario Montagud was an excellent vehicle to learn about the different collaborative projects.
