The CWI Lectures 2023, on November 16th, were dedicated to digital cultural heritage, as a forum for discussion between practitioners and academics.
The lectures provided insights about the current challenges and opportunities, including speakers from the Thyssen-Bornemisza museum in Spain, The British Museum in the UK, the Philipps University Marburg in Germany and the eScience Center in the Netherlands. In addition, a selection of European and National projects in which CWI participate (5DCulture, Cultural AI, HAICu, IMPACT4ART, TRANSMIXR) presented their ongoing efforts in this socially relevant topic. The full program of the event can be found here.
Rasa Bočytė, senior advisor for research collaborations at the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision, presented: “TRANSMIXR: Unfolding New Storytelling and Collaboration Possibilities for Digital Cultural Heritage”. The talk focused on the progress of the cultural heritage use case, highlighting the novelty and opportunities, and detailing the next steps.
Pablo Cesar, co-organizer of the event and group leader of Distributed and Interactive Systems, explains the reason for the organisation of this event: “The lectures provided a unique trans-disciplinary environment for fostering collaboration to adequately address the issues faced by cultural heritage institutions.”
