TRANSMIXR presents at Immersive tech week in Rotterdam

TRANSMIXR was presented on Friday December 2nd, 2022 at the Immersive Tech Week in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Immersive Tech Week (https://vrdays.co) is an exceptional festival that brings together the fields of creativity, innovation, business, research, and art to examine the influence of immersive technologies on the world, culture, and society. This five-day event  features a range of experiences, talks, round tables, workshops, and more, attracting industry leaders, XR aficionados, academics, startups, fast-growing companies, and policymakers from around the globe. VRdays aims to raise awareness and spur action by bringing together creativity, fun, and inspiration from all directions to drive successful and beneficial advancements in immersive technologies.

Prof. Dr. Pablo Cesar (Technical Coordinator, CWI) presented an overview of the TRANSMIXR project, the team and its goals. The talk, titled “TRANSMIXR: Ignite the Immersive Media Sector by Enabling New Narrative Visions”, was part of a session dedicated to Horizon Europe projects “Horizon Projects Present: TransMIXR, XReco, XR4Drama and INVICTUS”. The Baltic Film & Creative Tech Cluster (BFCT) had a booth, and representatives from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and The Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision (NISV) participated in the event. Apart from the disseminating value of the Immersive Tech Week, it helped the project to gather feedback about the project. After Pablo’s presentation, there was time for discussion about the project. VUB prepared a short questionnaire where spectators of the presentation could give feedback and expectations. We conclude that there is a lot of interest, excitement and curiosity about the next steps of TRANSMIXR!

The TRANSMIXR project resides within the Horizon Europe framework, the European Union’s research and innovation programme for the 2021-2027 period (within the 2021 open call “A human-centred and ethical development of digital and industrial technologies”), and got underway on October 1st 2022. The project will develop a range of AI and XR based solutions for the cultural and creative sector (specifically, news media & broadcasting, performing arts, and cultural heritage) to enable them to understand media at scale, and to create and consume next generation media experiences enabled by Social XR technologies.
