Prof. Pablo Cesar from the Distributed and Interactive Systems (DIS) group from CWI gave the talk “Introduction / Social XR as a New Medium for Communication and Collaboration” at the International Summer School on eXtended Reality Technology and eXperience on 18-21 July 2023 in Madrid. The talk inaugurated the summer school, and discussed the challenges and opportunities on Social XR, including an overview of the TRANSMIXR project, the team and its goals.
The International Summer School on eXtended Reality Technology and eXperience aimed to provide both an objective and clear overview and an in-depth analysis of the state-of-the-art research in eXtended Reality. We have witnessed a revolution in theory and technology recently. The coming years will see a huge increase of applications as advanced devices and 5G communications become widespread. This summer school aimed to provide a stimulating opportunity for young researchers and PhD students. The participants benefited from direct interaction and discussions with leaders in eXtended Reality. Participants also had the possibility to present the results of their research and interact with their scientific peers, in a friendly and constructive environment.
