TRANSMIXR partner Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) attended the 15th International Conference on Quality of Multimedia Experience on June 20th-22nd, 2023 in Ghent, Belgium to present their latest research. The TUS team had 3 full papers at the conference and won the best paper award!
Related to the TRANSMIXR work in WP3 on metrics and WP4 on evaluations, the TUS team presented 3 full papers at the QoMEX2023 conference. The papers were presented by Bhagyabati Moharana, Adrielle Nazar Moraes and Eoghan Hynes, all PhD students in TUS.
The paper from Bhagyabati reported the results of a subjective study that investigated physiological synchrony between users as the worked together in a collaborative VR Task and is available here. Adrielle presented her work on spatial audio in VR and how the presence of various types of auditory stimuli in the environment influences user behaviour. More specifically, the work considered in the impact of auditory distractor on performance in addition to analysing the impact of gender on performance. More details can be found at the full paper here. Finally, the paper from Eoghan, with title “Towards a symmetrical definition of QoE: An Evaluation of Emotion Semantics in Augmented Reality Training”, raised fundamental questions on the relationship between QoE and emotional semantics. For the interested reader, the full paper is available here. This research was awarded best paper, CONGRATS to all concerned!
The findings from each of the papers encourage further exploration and inform the development of the pilots, metrics (WP3) and evaluation methodologies (WP4) to be employed within TRANSMIXR.
